Casey Orr is a Wellington-based Solutions Architect at Databricks, helping organisations across NZ to modernise their AI and data estate, drawing on his background in software development, distributed systems, modern data platforms, and data engineering. He has designed secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud architectures while bridging the gap between hands-on implementation and long-term data and AI strategy, advising leadership on how to align data platforms, governance, and AI initiatives with organisational goals in mind. An active member of the local tech community, he frequently speaks at meetups and industry events.
Data, in its many forms, permeates every aspect of our environment, yet it is frequently overlooked or underutilised due to limitations such as a lack of technological proficiency (e.g. SQL), insufficient data understanding, time constraints, and other barriers. This session will explore three distinct perspectives, from organisational leadership to data engineering, to demonstrate how a well-structured data catalog, advancements in intelligent assistants, and a measure of creativity can unlock meaningful and impactful insights.
