Waleed is currently working as a team lead in the Data Enablement team at Optiver Australia. He works with teams across the business to empower them to work with big data, particularly using Spark and Databricks to work with large tabular datasets. In addition, he helps advance Optiver's AI strategy, working on agentic development and tooling.
This talk will explore some unique challenges which high-frequency trading firms like Optiver have tackled over the last decade. From latency-sensitive systems where microseconds matter; to engineering reliable transfer of data across the world; to building out supercomputers to speed up research; this talk will explore challenges that you don't find in most workplaces.
